Tidings December 2015

Trinity Tidings

Roaring Spring, PA 16673                                                      December 2015

Along with the Christmas Tidings this year you should have received an offering envelope that will be used as a Christmas Gift to help pay down the debt.  We have not designated an offering like this for a few years now and we would really like to help pay down the debt.  Would you please consider giving a sizeable charitable gift as your Christmas Gift to the Church?  Or maybe you would wish to tithe a certain percentage of the amount of money that you spent on Christmas (in realizing that the greatest gift we could ever receive is the JOY that the Christ child brings into our very lives).  We will receive this offering during our Christmas Eve service (but if you are not going to be in Church on Christmas Eve you may wish to bring it to Church on the Sunday before Christmas or you can mail it to the Church).  Your gifts would be greatly appreciated.

Audio/Visual Help Needed

We will be using the creative energy from Jerry, Jay and Jason so that we could have some video for our Christmas Eve (which will be used by our Worship Through Dance Team).  We hope to use Video more regularly during the new year but we need your help.  We must have people to step forward to assist us with this need.  If you are interested in coordinating this effort please contact Rev. Kev.

Welcome New Members

We added 6 new members to the Trinity Church family.  We welcome with open arms Joshua and Meghan Brown (and their 2 daughters Emma and Elizabeth), Sherry Fick, Christi Gartland, Chris Hinton and Tonya Dibert.  If you see them in Church – please make sure to extend the warm Christian love and fellowship with them.  Welcome to the family!

We are looking for volunteers to coordinate our once a month “Family Fellowship” events for 2016.  This is a great way to get to know other people from the Church (other than Sunday morning).  We are encouraging people (or a group of people) to come up with some kind of group activity – pick a date – plan the event – let the Church family know what they need to bring – and sign up on the signup sheet in the Round Room or let Lisa Ebersole know (in the Church Office) what you need to put in the bulletin in regard to this event

Saturday, December 5th at 9 AM.

We are in need of many helpful hands who would assist

us in decorating the Church for Advent and Christmas.

We will be decorating the tree, the Sanctuary and the

Church doors.  It usually takes a couple of hours to

decorate = so please come out and join us.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 20th at 9:30 AM

The Senior Choir has been working hard during the past several weeks in order to share a service of Lessons and Carols (which dates back to 1880 when an Anglican Bishop of Truro, England developed this service).  The service shares the wonderful progression of the Prophecy of Christ through Scripture and song.  Invite a friend and come and enjoy this worship as we come to celebrate the joy of Jesus Christ.

a Special 100th Birthday!!

Hello all! The children and youth have some very exciting events coming up this month that we would like to share with all of you.

On December 9th we will be caroling throughout the town and visiting the shut-ins! If you, or anyone you know, lives nearby and would like us to stop by, please let Carissa or Rev. Kev know ASAP.

On December 16th we will be celebrating Jesus’ birthday with our traditional Jesus’ Birthday Party! All are invited to attend. Please let Carissa know if you are planning to attend so we have enough cake to go around!

Coming up in January, we will be taking the youth to Winter Jam!! We will be going on Saturday, January 30. Cost for each person is $10. We will be asking for sponsors to help support the youth and paying for the youth’s tickets, and ask you to begin praying about a possible contribution.

I am very excited for all of the opportunities that the Lord is blessing us with in the upcoming months, and ask that you pray for the children and youth as they continue to grow in their relationships with Christ and each other. God is amazing!                                   Carissa Blair

December Prayer

Live Nativity

December 18 & 19

Amy Knisely, Chris Hinton, Lisa Ebersole and Rev. Kev are looking for volunteers to help with this wonderful event. We are very excited, to say the least, about sharing the nativity with the people in our community. We have the perfect place right here in front of our church. We are looking for adults and children to volunteer as our characters, livestock and carolers. We are asking that you sign up for a 30 minute time slot (or more). We have a sign-up sheet in the back of the church. We would also like to have hot refreshments and cookies available to hand out to the people who stop by. If you could bake a dozen cookies or donate a box of hot chocolate please let one of us know. We are hoping this is a wonderful way to show our community what the true meaning of Christmas is all about. Merry Christmas!!

We were able to make a $5,996.55 payment to the Roof Fund because of our very successful Spaghetti Dinner and Apple Dumpling Sale.  We made 640 Apple Dumplings and were able to sell 550 of them and we served over 140 Spaghetti Dinners.  We thank everyone who participated in both of these “FUN”raising events and we will be announcing soon when we may be having another Spaghetti Dinner or Apple Dumpling Sale.
