Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ!

As of July 1, 2020, I have been appointed as the pastor of Trinity UMC in Roaring Spring.  I arrived in the midst of the Summer Lunch Program and COVID-19 restrictions!  Watching the crew in the kitchen and fellowship hall prepare and hand out almost 11,000 lunches in just over 50 days was amazing.  Figuring out how to regather for worship in the Sanctuary -- a challenge.

Jesus has given us our commission --
Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you.  (Matthew 28:19-20, The Message)
As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are to share the good news of God's love, grace, and mercy with the world.  We cannot do this unless we are empowered by the Holy Spirit, connected to the Vine (Jesus), growing, maturing and bearing fruit for the Kingdom.
As disciples of Jesus Christ, we are joined together in one body with Christ as the head.  As I look at this teaching, I am reminded that every body has many parts -- Paul tells us to look at our own bodies to realize the truth of this.  Many years ago, when I was first working as the activities director in a nursing home, this was a reality I observed: turning a faucet on & off is a very simple task when you are standing.  But, when you are in a wheelchair, a much more difficult task.  We use our hands in both situations, but, when we are standing, our shoulders and back assist in the process.

We are one body in Christ, as individual and unique as the ear is to the eye, but unless we are all working and contributing to the mission of the church together, as one, our ministry suffers.  One body in Christ here at Trinity and in community with all other Christians here in Roaring Spring.  Each church contributing its part to the mission of making disciples.

I am excited to be here in Roaring Spring and to get to know all of you.
Stay safe -- wear a mask when you are out and about!!
May God bless you this day.
